Making block graphs

For our maths topic Statistics, we have been learning about making graphs. In our table groups we were given a packet of M&Ms.

We had to sort them into their colour groups and then count each in the group.

Then we made a block graph to show how many of each colour were in our packet.

Amazing Maze Fun!

 The Gardener's Maze

We recently shared the big book 'The Gardener's Maze' and discussed what the gardener needed to make a maze out of hedge plants from scratch. We learnt how to make lists. We went hunting for new words.
Then we tried to create our own mazes from our maths equipment.
One of our reading groups read a story about a maze made out of maize in New Zealand.
Next we found some 3D mazes to try out and we are trying to beat our times and increase the level of difficulty with different mazes.
We are learning directions like: forwards, backwards, left, right, enter and exit.
We all think mazes are amazing!!

Fun Maths!

 Coding with BeeBots!

Richard visited our class to teach us about robots.

We learnt names for directions: turn left, right, go forwards, backwards.

First we worked out the instructions or codes on a white board.

Then we programmed the Beebot with our code.

Go Beebot! Now we see if our instructions are correct

If it doesn't work, we press Clear and try again.

We also learnt to scan a QR code on our iPads.

We found the Beebot emulator programme and different maps.

We chose a map or grid to move the little Beebot around on.

We loved our new learning and we are practising each week!
