Patterning in maths

We have been learning how to copy and continue a repeating pattern.
We had fun exploring patterning with some of our maths equipment.

Maesi-Jane made a rainbow pattern with the peg boards.

Collins made a pattern with the beads on a string.

Mikaere-Jay made a really LONG pattern with the unifix cubes.
His pattern was as long as his entire body!

Phoenix made two different patterns with the unifix cubes.

Reuben made a coloured pattern with some of the members of the family set.

Amazing Maze Fun!

 The Gardener's Maze

We recently shared the big book 'The Gardener's Maze' and discussed what the gardener needed to make a maze out of hedge plants from scratch. We learnt how to make lists. We went hunting for new words.
Then we tried to create our own mazes from our maths equipment.
One of our reading groups read a story about a maze made out of maize in New Zealand.
Next we found some 3D mazes to try out and we are trying to beat our times and increase the level of difficulty with different mazes.
We are learning directions like: forwards, backwards, left, right, enter and exit.
We all think mazes are amazing!!

Te Pihi Autumn vibes!

Weeks 5, 6 & 7

Learning to strum the ukelele.

We can play 'Row, row, row your boat'.

A treaty is a written list of promises.

Everyone agreed on our list.

And then we all signed our treaty.

We had a fun party to farewell two of our boys who were moving away. Mrs Hammond came too!

Haere ra Josiah and Levi.

We learnt to get in and out of any pool safely.

The 3 Junior classes had a FUN SWIM afternoon.

We are learning the symbols for fractions. We cut one whole watermelon into half.

Then into quarters.
Then eighths.
Then sixteenths.

Then we ate it!!

JUICY!

DRIPPY!

DELICIOUS!
