Energize Session with Garth

Two hands in a hoop!
Three feet in the hoop!

We had fun in the whare with Garth today! First we moved like animals to warm-up. Next we had to place different body parts in our hoops. Then we had fun flicking the hoop along the floor.

Matariki Writing

Today we published our writing for the writing wall. As part of our Matariki celebrations we wrote about our goals that we have set ourselves for the Maori New Year. Carter is really proud of her published work. Ka pai to mahi, Carter!

Gifts from the Patel whanau

Today Preet's whanau came in to give EVERY student in our school a small gift as part of a tradition in their culture to acknowledge the passing of a close family member. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts Mr & Mrs Patel as we know this must be a very sad time for you all especially not being able to get back to India because of the Covid-19 virus.

Learning how to write CVC words!

Cameron, Te Reinga, Sophia J and Carter have been practising how to write CVC words. Those are words like c-a-t that have a consonant, then a vowel, then another consonant in them. Look how many they completed without the help of an adult. Wow! We are so impressed with your independent learning.

Phys Ed with Garth

It's been great to have Garth from Sport Northland back at Paparore School. He has returned to teach us all some new (and old) games. At first in Level 2, we learnt some games that allowed some social distancing.

Then this week at Level 1, we were allowed to play a bit closer together. Everyone enjoys learning new skills and practising them in a game, while being active and warming up on a chilly Winter's morning!

Look what we can do with a                                                                                 hoop!

3 feet in a hoop

2 bottoms in a hoop

4 feet in a hoop...Uh oh!

Look out Arlen, here they come... "Freeze!"
"Who's creeping up on me?"

Week 8 School Assembly

This week our senior class, Te Kauru, ran our school assembly from a Google Hangout. Te Kakano joined us to celebrate the achievements of our children who are leaders of their own learning!
We began our assembly by all saying our school vision statement together! Say it to your whanau in English and in Te Reo Maori!
We are... Proud and passionate leaders of learning in the heart of the community!
Ina te tukaha, te tu maia o nga kai arataki matauranga, kei waenganui, kei te manawa o te                 iwi kainga!
Congratulations to all of our hard workers this week! Tino pai to mahi!

Russ Needs A Nose Job!

Russ Needs a Nose Job!

written by Te Pihi class

Russ is a teddy-bear. He is our class mascot. We take turns to take Russ home for the night.
When Russ went to Toby's house, he was holding his nose so that he couldn't smell Hogg the pet pig.
But some cotton came out of his nose! Cove the kitten felt sorry for Russ.
So Doctor Michele did surgery on Russ' nose. She fixed his nose with some stitches made with a needle and cotton. Russ was very brave. Cove was the nurse, looking on.
Dr Michele put a plaster on Russ' nose. He felt a lot better after a cuddle with Nurse Cove. The plaster came off the next day and Russ looked much better. Now we can all take Russ home again!
Thank you Dr Michele and Nurse Cove!

Recount Writing and Statistics

Check out this great recount writing from Cameron and Levi. Both boys were so proud to write to the bottom of the page AND to use a WOW word in their weekend story today. We are so proud of your determination! Ka pai to mahi!

Today we learnt how to collect data in a table and then display it very simply using unifix cubes. We asked a small group of students 3 questions and recorded their answer in a yes/no table. Look at what we discovered! Carter and Cameron were very excited to share their work today.

Week 7 School Assembly

Te Kakano and Te Pihi met together in Te Pihi for our first school assembly for term 2 via Google Hangout! Congratulations also to Halo and Connor 's whanau for winning 1st and 2nd prize respectively.

Bostin and his butterflies!

Bostin has a love of all creatures great and small! He has been looking after these monarch butterflies since they were caterpillars, watching and taking care of them. Feel free to leave any questions here on our blog for him to answer.
