Paparore School Olympics

Today was our Olympics dress-up day at Paparore School.
We had a special visitor come to talk to us all about winning a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada. He was the goal keeper for the NZ mens' hockey team and saved an important goal which smashed his knee cap. A very interesting fact we learnt was that he is our teacher aide Michele's great uncle!
Then after morning tea we held our own Olympics day and rotated about seven different sports activities. The focus was on participation and as a reward we were given an ice block. It was so much fun!
We played a basketball-running game with Whaea Saroya.
Our long jump Olympian, Sylvie had a good technique!

We had running races.

The gumboot throw was fun.

Rachael enjoyed the shot put.

We played football.

The tug of war.
