Ronda from Water Safe has been at our school on Mondays, teaching water safety lessons. Last Monday the children learnt to put on life jackets correctly, floated on their backs and learnt to signal for help holding one arm straight up. They got into a huddle to help one another stay afloat and to keep warm together in an emergency.
This week they practiced floating on their tummies and backs with pool noodles or flutter boards, and learnt to scull the water with their hands.
On Wednesdays and Fridays in our swimming time, we practice what we have learnt from Ronda.
It's great that they are all bringing their togs and towels and learning essential water skills, confidence and safety! We LOVE our swimming time!

  1. Fabulous floating Te Pihi. Life jackets are so important and will save your life. Remember to share your learning with your whanau to keep them save too. Did you enjoy using the life jackets in the pool? - Mrs Davan
