Baking ANZAC biscuits

ANZAC biscuits were baked by wives and womens' groups to send to the soldiers who went to war. They use ingredients that do not "spoil" easily and the biscuits kept well for the long journey on ships. We made ANZAC biscuits to remember the brave men and women who went to war. We all took turns to add the ingredients into the bowl and then stir them.

Then we rolled the mixture into balls to make our own biscuit.

They tasted so yummy!

Easter celebrations on the last day of term 1!

Today we celebrated the last day of term 1 with an Easter Egg Hunt in the sensory garden for the junior classes. With our partner, we had to search for a tiny Easter egg each and a bunny. Each bunny had a letter on it. When we got back to the teachers, we had to make a sentence with all the letters that we found. Our sentence read: "Happy Easter to you!"

Off they go!

With their partners in the sensory garden.

Looking on the little playground.

Happy . . .

Music!

Making music with Whaea Jen!

We are learning to beat with drumsticks.
We can clap to keep the beat.

Wyatt is happy to be the lead drummer!

We need to work together as a team.

We concentrate and say the beat in our heads.

Then we tried to keep the beat with the piano keys.

That sounds SO good!

We loved the spooky sounds of the xylophones

St Patrick's Dress Up Day 2022

Today we celebrated St Patrick's Day by having a "green" dress-up day here at Paparore School. Here are Te Pihi's little leprechauns! We watched a YouTube clip about the meaning of St Patrick's Day and we did some writing about it. Sophie was our "Writer of the Day!" Here is her story.
