The Minstrel Show!
Paparore School was lucky enough to have the Minstrel come to visit! Our class mascot Hiwi the Kiwi was named after the Minstrel's famous kiwi. We all loved his car, all the fishing advice and the funtastic show!
Julia said: The Minstrel came to school for us. The Minstrel was funny. He called us BooBoo! We have to wear a life-jacket.
Teo said: I went to see the Minstrel and it was fun and the Minstrel told us to bring some wet towels and he taught us to bring some ice too, and a life jacket and he told us to bring a bucket of water.
Isla said: Yesterday at school there was a Minstrel. When they came in their names were Mr and Mrs Minstrel. They taught us to be safe. They said you need a rulerand a life jacket and a water gun.
Mason S said: I liked the Minstrel show because it is a funny show and we learnt some lessons in the hall and we liked his singing for us.

Lunar the Lamb
Kylan had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb.
Its' fleece was white as snow.
Everywhere that Kylan went...
the lamb was sure to go.
It followed him to school one day...
That was against the rules.
It made the children laugh and play...
To see a lamb at school.
Thanks Kylan and Mrs Bainbridge for bringing Lunar the Lamb to school. Lunar is only two weeks old and followed Kylan whenever he bleated! We love seeing our students looking after their pets.

The glow sticks were a hit!
There was loads of yummy food for sale for dinner and dessert!
And prizes for great dance moves and best dressed!

Road Safety Week 2019
The police were impressed with our knowledge of road safety. Thank you for visiting us Paolo and Damaris! |
Paolo showed us all the things he uses to help him to keep our community safe. |
Mihi found out that a policeman's vest is very heavy to wear! |
Everyone wanted a turn to try out the police car seats! |
The siren was loud! |
I hope that's the last time I see you in a cop car boys?! |
Well, well, well, what do we have here? Buckle up bro! |

Dental Service at School!
During Term 2 we have the dental truck here with Mrs Masters and Ms Rogers checking everyone's teeth.
Te Pihi went for a visit to check it out before our appointments. They showed us what will happen and all the things they use. Te Pihi children said they brush their teeth EVERY morning and EVERY night. So the dental nurses are sure to be happy when they look in Te Pihi mouths!

Tea Party Time!
Term 2 has started with the addition of six new seedlings joining Te Pihi class. They have graduated from being seeds in Te Kakano. Here are five of the six (Mason was away). We welcome Chase, Xavier, Nooroa, Emma, Keifer, Mason and their families into the Te Pihi whanau.
Day 1 of Term 2 was also a special day for Michele, our Teacher Aide extraordinaire!!
So we had a 'tea' party to celebrate a 'ty' birthday! They also now know the difference between 'ty' and 'teen'. Most children enjoyed two cups of tea, with their pinkies out. Not a drop was spilt or a fancy cup broken!
Great start to the term Te Pihi!

A Sad Time
Our class heard about the tragedy in Christchurch |
and learnt about flags flying at half-mast.
Colourful cousins! |
The colourful hearts we made were placed around our school flagpole. |
We all wore bright colours on Friday 22nd March for 'Colour Day'. |
Unicorn colour girls! |
We are all friends. |
We are thinking of everyone in Christchurch. |
We made paper dolls to show that we value diversity, which is one of our school values. |
After the minute's silence, we sang some waiata, then had our assembly around the flagpole. |
